The name says it all - these actors have real chemistry! It's kinda like the real world: porn. The actors choose the who, what, where and then go into the confessional and tell us why. It's not super hard-core, but it's not cable-soft either. The sex is hot. The guys are hot. The girls are natural and sexy. And you really get a sense of who these people are - they're funny and smart, and they really love what they do and take pride in it. This is a movie I will own, and I will definitely be looking for Tristan Taormino's others. This is a movie for girls who like porn, or guys who want to get their wives or girlfriends into porn - there is no ICK factor here!
watch out for tristan taormino! she's coming up fast as a director. this was her 4th time directing a movie and it is without doubt a huge success. she uses a collaborative approach with her performers, encouraging them to take a great deal of creative liscence in determining what kind of scenes will take place. essentially, she puts together a bunch of seasoned performers and tells them to enjoy themselves for 36 hours, and tapes the ensuing interactions. this is reality porn--complete with "confessional" style interviews with individual performers. these confessional sessions allow us a great deal of insight into what was running through the actors' heads at the time of the shoot, which make the sex scenes all that much hotter--particularly when they give sincere and enthusiastic accounts of their attraction to (dare i say, the "chemistry" they share with) their fellow performers.
this should be an instant classic. it has a truly different format. while it resembles a "how we make a prono" type, it has a whole lot of real conversations and different sides to porno queens, plus ragin hot sex. but tristan taormino is to anal sex but quentin tarantino is to violence. she believes everyone will love it. thus a scene where mika tan does kurt lockwood up his until he pops. those who know how great it is to be dildoed up the ass while your woman sucks you off will love it. those who are homophobic about their a-holes will run for the hills.
Wife and I enjoyed the alternate style, almost like a reality show. It made for some interesting camera diary moments, but there was plenty of action as well.
I thought this one was really fun, but my lady was not so impressed. The format is different, but the actors still spit on each others junk and do all those typical porno things that lots of girls (and even some guys) get turned off by. It's not perfect, but it is still more interesting than 90% of the DVDs you can rent here.
i really like tristan's past work, her book "pucker up" is really good and her evil angel anal sex instructional movie was fun. chemistry is poorly shot and the scenes are broken up with interviews. it was very difficult to enjoy this one, even though i really liked the stars. rent only if you are a tristan fan, but be ready for a letdown :(
After reading the great reviews for this movie I was anxious to see it. At first I thought it was the wrong movie so i checked the disc, well it SAID Chemistry. I was confused, what chemistry? The sex scenes where poorly shot, the actors that paired up had less heat than a 10 watt light bulb. If you are having trouble sleeping just pop this disc in and you will be in nod land in no time. The only thing good about this movie was the interview segments between the sleep inducing sex scenes. One star is me being generous, only rent this disc if you are an insomniac, you will be cured!
Honestly, it really bugged me that all this seemed like a big joke to the members of this house. Getting banged while some chick with a strap-on walks around and jokes about things is not hot to me, nor was it hot for my husband. Maybe I am in the wrong in not wanting sex to be comedic, but it was difficult to get turned on when no one seemed really turned on. Everything was fakey and seemed to be done for shock value (like each person was thinking, "let's see what else I can stick in my twat..." or, "how else can we make this just a bit nastier?"). Meh.
